MICAS is the brainchild of Pastor Chong Keng Sen, and hosted by Galleri Dunia Seni Lukis. MICAS2010 is the third in the annual series of exhibitions, forums and workshops.
“Today the Christian faith is a global faith. The translatability of its central tenets has given birth to myriad forms of ‘faith-reflections’ in every generation, each equally authentic and edifying to their respective communities. MICAS2010 once again reminds us of the contemporariness of the Christian religion. It also reminds contemporary Christian artists that while their art-making is rooted in a traditional Christianity, they need not be cultural retrogrades. Rather, they are to be authentic in their faith. Towards this end, MICAS2010 seeks to offer Christian aftists the avenue for authentic dialogue and mediation among themselves, the faith community an the public-at-large. My deepest gratitude to the MICAS participating artists, many of whom are ‘strangers in the flesh’ but ‘fellow pilgrims in spirit’… Soli Deo Gloria.”
